Cross off completed tasks in calendar
I think tasks that are completed should display as crossed of in the calendar widget.

I completely agree. As it's true as freedcamp admin say calendar show completion status, It's not very visual, very small and when you cannot have a global vision of your day/week.
To me it's the biggest fail of freedcamp. -

Thanks for posting. Have you tried new Global Calendar - https://freedcamp.com/dashboard/calendar? I am about to announce it.
It is full page and it shows you titles of tasks as well as completion status.(as 'completed on Oct 8, 2015' not crossed as you said).
