Fewer emails when tasks and issues are updated
We love that Freedcamp sends emails when Tasks and Issues (in Issue Tracker) are updated. However, each time a task or issue is updated, we will receive at least 2 emails: 1 stating the issue was updated, and the other with comments. It would be nice if there was 1 email for each update noting what was changed (usually the status) as well as comments (if any were added).
We will change a way it is done. All changes done during 30 min or so(1) interval by one or different users will be combined into one email.
(1) – if users keep updating an item we will not wait more than 30 min and will send email with all changes made. But, if there were 7 updates in the first 5 min interval, for example, and no more updates in 5 minutes – we will send email in 10 min with 7 changes made on item. This approach can adapt and wait just a bit longer if people are actively participating collecting updates to send fewer emails, while still limited to 30 min chunks of time to make sure you haven’t missed important conversation by receiving email update too late.
Do you like this approach?
@Simeon - how about using new Home page, New Notifications page and new Daily Recap email and turning emails off for instant updates entirely?
We will definitely combine updates on the same item made in 30 min chunks into a single email this year but I can not provide any ETA yet

I agree with all the comments on this thread. I'm currently getting far too many notifications, but also I don't want to have to tell my team they have to edit the task each time they want to set it as complete: it was hard enough just getting them to adopt using an online task management platform!
@Leesa - task can be completed without In Progress by two ways. Edit a task and set status 'complete'. In tasks list view drag 'completed' label from right and drop it to a task. In Kanban view you can drag task from left column to right column bypassing middle column.
I agree - we might need to add ability to set status 'complete' when you add task and select complete date and change icon clicking cycling between no progress-> in progress -> completed to be a drop down to select needed status.
At this stage I would suggest to ask team not to use icon clicking for tasks bypassing In Progress status and using ways I described above.
I also wrote this blog post explaining how one can only get new comments on tasks to inbox and archive all other emails to a different folder as read. It is easy to extend by adding 'Assigned to: Igor K." into your filter to also have all updates to tasks you work on to inbox and avoid getting status updates on team tasks not assigned to you.
It would be great to have the option to "turn off" the "in progress" emails. Often our team will complete a task straight away (as there is no need for it to be in progress), but they have to click twice to complete it, and the other team members included in that task get 2 emails when only one is required. It would also be ideal to be able to choose the status in one step instead of 2 (if I want to complete immediately). A dropdown option would be good (as i know there is development to include more status options, which I am looking forward to as well for specific projects! :) :) Cheers!
