Hello Angel, et al. Regarding the Google Drive integration and the secondary request to create the capability to simply add links to Google Drive documents, I wanted to mention that the function to create links already exists in the "Wall" and "Discussion" sections of the user interface.
Would it be possible to add this same functionality to the "To-Do's" section? This would at least be a great interim solution to fully integrating with Google Drive. Do you think this can be done? It would be helpful in discussing with team members the possibility to begin using Freedcamp and likely many others too! :-)

Feedback: "The integration we are looking for is this: when clicking "File" a
dialogue opens which gives the user the opportunity to upload a file
stored on the local computer. It would be extremely valuable if that
could be extended to include a link to a Google Drive. The Google API to
connect to a Google account is there already, and all your competition
has this functionality. With it I could recommend the use of Freedcamp
in our organisation, without it I have no chance." -
Clarification for a previous request:
"I need to be able to add a file from Google Drive, not just files from
the local computer." -

Lack of Google Docs integration is the reason why I can't recommend Freedcamp to our organisation at this point, though I'd love to do so. What is the time-frame for the development of Google Docs integration?
-
You are not correct - yes we make money by selling extra file storage but, no - we do not want to force you to do buy it. We never had time to implement many features. Finally we raised a seed investment and will be running full speed adding features. Google Docs, DropBox and Box integrations are in a list but we have more requested features (can you imagine?)

Yes! I'm imagining this hasn't been done because Freedcamp makes money off of storage upgrades. Maybe there's a way to pay for a widget that allows google doc integration? I'd be happy to pay, as this is where I keep all my files. A real pain in the @$$ to download files from google docs and then upload into freecamp every time.

Dear Angel,
Regarding integration, for Drive and Dropbox there are easy implementation SDK and API, check the following links :
https://developers.google.com/drive/
https://www.dropbox.com/developersOne way to integrate it, is to allow the administrator to link its Drive and/or Dropbox to the project (knowing that everyone in the project will have access)
Then when people "attach files" they can select it from the Drive/Dropbox.But much more can be done : what is missing right now is the possibility to upload the work you have done in a ToDo.
You could have something like this in the ToDo menu (check the last line : http://postimg.org/image/z1xgb1cw5/ )
Adding this to a specific ToDo would make appear a popup showing the folders and files available in the Drive/DropBox, and allow you to create a new file and/or folder.
Therefore you will be able to show the result of your work directly in Freedcamp.
I am currently using Freedcamp with my humanitarian association, and I give ToDos to my team, the thing is that I would like to be able to see quickly what they have done (usually the tasks I give them generates files, stored in Google Drive). With this functionality, I wouldn't have to ask to each member what they have done every week, I wouldn't have to check all the Drive, I would juste check Freedcamp !By the way, for mind maps, this could be usefull :
http://www.mindmeister.com/fr/developers/
And another great tool is LucidChart, but I haven't find any API...I hope I could have helped you !
I am sorry I haven't answered before, if you want to talk more about it, mail me directly, otherwise it will go to spam...Regards,

We listen, Jules. Thank you.
Regarding services you mentioned - how do you envision their integration?

@Angel Grablev : This would be a really great function actually !
You should see how Wrike does it ! I really integrates smoothly Drive and Dropbox files (check "Attach files" when creating a new task in Wrike). This is the option that is really missing in Freedcamp at the moment.
They are a lot a "bricks" out there that are just waiting to be integrated all together to make the perfect project development software !(Maybe after google Doc, next be would be something MindMeister ? Or Muraly ? Who knows... (well you ^^)
Otherwise thank you for this great website !

Yeah, it would be great to have Google Docs intergration - even just linking to documents would be a nice start.
Hopefuly it will get up there on the priority list :) -

I completely agree, every other project management software does it and its the one negative downside I found in using Freedcamp. I mean it lets different team members work on the same file at the same time without using up resources from Freedcamp, I don't see why this hasn't been integrated yet. Thanks for the good job with Freedcamp though!

raise your hand if this is you:
You use Google docs for every aspect of your document needs and you may actually want to share those to others on projects you are managing!
Me/ raises hand
Or are we google doc users the lucky few who found the magic way to conduct business without any written documents?
-
I believe google drive integration would be a realistic option, however I am not sure this is on our priority list at this stage.

Even just having an option to give a document name and Google Drive document link where there are add files options would help. That might be a stop-gap until you get full Google Drive integration.

When adding a file there should be an option to add a google doc, this could be a seperate icon next to the 'attach file' link, This should pull up the users Google Doc list including the option to create a new google doc or upload a file to google docs (google's API allows this) - see teambox, they do this really well and its a brilliant feature.

Perhaps simply allowing the google doc to be listed as a link on freedcamp-- a plus would be allowing freedcamp to show who the doc is being shared with.

Can you explain in detail exactly how you want this to look/function?
