The Gantt - navigate to tasks out of view faster
Hi,
While using the Gantt-chart it's not easy when tasks have a start date in the past. The task is potentially out of sight because it's far to the left from now.
I think it would be a great improvement to the gant chart that:
If tasks that have a start date but are not set to in progress/completed would shift automatically in the gantt chart to the now line. To complete this, a task with a start date and set to in progress and not yet completed should stretch in the Gantt chart to now or show the yet to develop estimated time ( https://freedcamp.uservoice.com/forums/126945-suggestions-for-features/suggestions/9179441-set-estimated-hours-for-a-task ) that is still needed to the left of now.
Hope it's clear, if not let me know.
Regards,
Henk
If you click a task or a subtask in the left frame inside Gantt chart you will be navigated into it in the main window.

Hi Igor,
Thx for replying. Nice to see that you are improving the Gantt view.
Not sure, where will these task show? I hope you are going to say on the now line?
They are of course planned initially but somehow the assignee did't get to it or it takes more time to complete it.Another way of looking at it is something i learned from a redmine plugin is show unplanned/late and unfinished tasks in a box next to the chart so you are able to drag them into the chart and plan them.....

This is the new Gantt we plan to launch soon - better styling and occupies full monitor width - https://www.dropbox.com/s/dleqmiw6vqihpoe/New%20Gantt.png?dl=0
For now, you can use full-screen mode to see a giant Gantt - button to switch to it is above Gantt on the left side
I think we can add yet one more option 'Show tasks with no deadlines today' which can be turned on for planning and color those tasks with a special color so it will be easier to see that those tasks are not actually one day tasks for today but rather unplanned yet tasks.
Will this work?

Hi Igor,
Happy to contribute! Freedcamp is awesome.
Thx for replying. This would be a slight improvement but it could potentialy result in a lot of scrolling back and forth, and it would scroll to a date that is in the past and that is not really relevant to a task that needs to be done now or in the future.
Is it do-able to have Gantt work with a status e.g. "No progress" when auto planning is enabled? If this is a problem i could work with issues that have no start date to shift to the now line. Still it would be a lot nicer to have it work with the statusses. You could say it is exactly what auto planning is, plan what needs to be done. And we can't use the past for that (unless you want freedcamp to have a timetraveling feature :-0 )
What about the stretching of the Gantt bars? Is this do-able?
And about that estimated time, i would love to see this implemented. This would really bring freedcamp into planning. And we can define the load not in task count, but in real needed time.
Cheers,
Henk
