Reccuring tasks, completed tasks and team overview
So these are the three main things that are making me reconsider using FreedCamp.
Recurring tasks are a big deal for most businesses but I feel that here they are done in a weird way and makes the whole process contradictory to what it's supposed to be.
When I set a recurring task, I expect the task to behave in a logical way: to appear in my list on the days I chose (regardless of the start or end dates) - I do not want to see a duplicate of the task before the recurrence date - unless I go to calendar view.
For example: If I have a task set to repeat every Monday, then I expect to see all of the Mondays from now to forever to have that same task already there if I go to see my calendar. I don't want to wait to ''get close'' to the day in question to have the task appear in the calendar view.
I understand that these tasks cannot appear in the list because then you'd have hundreds of tasks multiplied there... but how about an option that if the task is set to reoccur on Monday, to reocurrs ONLY if the previous task is completed? Similar to what Todoist has.
It would be much easier to have the same task just start ''anew'' at each recurrence than have duplicates.
For example - my task is set to recurr every Wednedsay - I do the task and complete it. This triggers the recurrence and makes the same task active again but with the next date. For me, recurrence dates are typically also the deadline dates.
I also expect to have only the new task appear with all the functionality of the original task.
How freedcamp is set at the moment, if you set up a recurring task you basically have the ''original'' task, which then replicates itself but without the recurrence.
I don't understand the point of this.
Also, why is the task visible before the recurrence date? it just makes the whole list look stuffed.
Another thing is that the completed tasks just stay there and you can only delete them if you don't want to see them, and don't want to necessarily change your view filter every time.
I don't want to see the tasks I completed - why can't they be archived automatically?
And finally as many have mentioned - there really should be a way to see all the upcoming tasks across projects for the entire team. This is now reserved for Enterprise plan which is ridiculous since this is the main thing that most businesses need, however small they are.
Please repost each suggestion separately or we will. We try to separate requests and do not have here a collection of unmanageable wish lists.
Re: “I don’t want to see the tasks I completed – why can’t they be archived automatically?” the answer is simple – there are users who do not want them to be automatically archived so we provide an advanced and user-friendly filtering system when you can set what you want to see – for example, upcoming tasks only.
Thanks for posting and your understanding.
