Recurrence in Tasks, Events in Calendar application
Some projects are a one shot deal, but some projects are on going and I have Tasks that recur on a regular schedule.
I would love to be able to schedule a recurring task rather than have to manually reschedule it every week, two weeks, or month.
It is launched now.
Update: We posted the latest tweaks here – https://blog.freedcamp.com/2018/06/12/changes-recurrent-tasks-based-feedback/

From my point of view, I would expect this to work by creating each new task based on the interval type and the start date, with a due date based on the previous due date and interval type. The date of creation of each recurrent task would be the earlier of the date the preceding task is completed, or the next start date arriving.
Examples:
Weekly task created that starts on a Wed and ends on a Fri. I'd expect each subsequent task to be created with a start date of the Wed of that week and an due of the Fri.If I complete the task on the Thu, the task for the following Wed-Fri is created. If I don't complete by the following Wed, the next Wed-Fri task is created so I have two instances (one overdue and one due to start)
Monthly task created that starts on the 5th of the month and ends on the 25th. Each recurrence would also have a start date of the 5th of the month and end on the 25th.
If I complete the task on the 6th, the task for the following 5-25th is created. If I don't complete by the 5th of the following month, the next 5-25th task is created so I have two instances (one overdue and one due to start)
To counter that, if I only set a due date, leaving the start date blank, then maybe a global or per-project "create recurrences X days in advance" parameter could be provided so that we could set our own default lead times on creating the next occurrence of a task rather than it be hard coded to 7 days?

We use recurring tasks in our marketing dept to schedule social media posts. It would be nice to see recurring tasks on the calendar farther out than 7 days. We regularly schedule our social media posts in hootsuite several weeks in advance. Its a bit of a bummer to only see 7 days in advance. I need a big picture of at least a month in advance of ALL tasks including recurring ones.

Hi, I still can't see it on the iphone app. Has it been released on the app version or awaiting release?

Monday as in May 7th, 2018? That would be amazing! Please let us know when it goes live.
Thanks for adding this feature!! -

In the middle of trialing Freedcamp, we're about to go with another project management system because of the lack of this functionality. What's up with it? Can I try it in beta? It's a crucial feature.

@freedcamp Thanks for the update! Looking forward to it.

We are in final stages of testing - sorry for the delay. All sorts of questions have to be handled - what if some recurrent tasks were moved to another project, when and how often to create them in advance, where to create a new recurrence if a recurrent task became a subtask etc.
Thanks for understanding and we hope you will like what you see.

I also have the same question: will Zapier be necessary to create recurrence in tasks, since I am striving to keep my projects organized in 1 program. Please update on this!

Will Zapier be necessary to be able to use recurrence in tasks?
-
@Jill - will you be able to use Zapier if I will enable an access for you?

Can you please provide an update on this? I really need recurring tasks in order for this application to benefit me enough to switch from what I was using before.

You can create recurrent tasks with Zapier integration right now. You can not create subtasks but you can say - create this task, assign it to me, set high priority and due date every Mon, Wed and Fri. Please see examples of Zaps here https://blog.freedcamp.com/2018/04/02/public-api-zapier-integrations/

Hi- is the zapier integration the solution to launching subtasks, or will this enhancement be available within Freedcamp itself. Thank you
-
We have launched Zapier integration - you can create recurrent tasks with Zapier easily https://freedcamp.com/Freedcamp_LxR/Freedcamp_Devel_yOf/wiki/wiki_public/view/aGcab
Please check our last status update for launching this feature.

It is started (in development). It will be completed when released.

Is task recurrence now up and running at all?

> Can the next recurrent task appear under the previous recurrent task instead of the end of the task list?
This is a good idea
>Can the next recurrent task be created when the previous recurrent task is marked as completed (rather than in advance)?
Have you checked https://freedcamp.com/Freedcamp_LxR/Freedcamp_Devel_yOf/wiki/wiki_public/view/n9cab?
It somehow should work this way:
- if you have a daily task recurring Mon-Fri and completed it - tomorrow's task is created. If you complete your task on Friday - Monday task is created straight away. If on Monday you haven't completed your task - Tuesday task will be created midnight Monday.
- if you have a monthly task (first Monday of each month) and completed it (or not completed it). New task will be created on about 20th of this month for the next month
