Add Users Without Email Address
Often times we have clients that do not log into Freedcamp, but we still manage the project within Freedcamp.
We would like to be able to create users without email addresses. This would allow us to add a 'dummy' user to the system and assign tasks to them. We would then be able to export our todos and provide status/project updates to our clients.
Hi All.
We agreed that provided workaround works.
Cheers,
Igor

Hey Igor, what is the solution here? I can't figure out how to edit a users name to display instead of displaying the dummy email address that I created. How to I add a name so that it shows instead of a random email that I have to create?

That will work then, sounds good to me. Feel free to close this one out!

Hi Robert,
Thanks for finding time to respond.
1. You only need one fake GMail address for all clients. Let's say it is R2U2@gmail.com
2. You invite you clients and type
R2U2+bob.dylan@gmail.com Bob Dylan
R2U2+ozzy.osbourne@gmail.com Ozzy Osbourne3. They are not getting emails and you see their names in Freedcamp straight away AND you can assign tasks to them, export to XLS and handle it to them
4. Your client project team in all projects will follow same notation for emails - R2U2+name.surname@gmail.com
We actually allow to assign tasks to invited users before they accept an invite and join Freedcamp. We do not send email notifications to them but you can work with such accounts where people never actually joined.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Goal: For clients of ours whose organization's IT policy limits them from accessing/signing up for outside applications, we would like to have a way to assign todos to them so we can export the todos and send out a excel report on list of todos and who is responsible for them.
Do you want clients to be part of Tasks and/or Discussions. --> Just Tasks
Do they need to contribute (comment)? --> No, unfortunately in the scenario above, there is limited collaboration.
Do they need to see project progress? --> No, progress would be delivered to them by exporting todos
Do you assign task to clients and why? --> The client project team consists of 4-5 people (training manager, PM, IT resources, dB resource, other admins, and maybe a key stakeholder)
Check Basecamp's loop in feature - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUAA0q1QyT8 is it exactly what is required and what is missing if not? --> this looks like a neat feature, but is unrelated to my request.Possible Solutions:
- All clients will have an email address...if there was some type of autoaccept when I add their email address and they didn't have to create a freedcamp account, this could work. (if this already exists, I apologize and we can close this idea)
- Customized Tags - I think this is an idea somewhere else in the forum, and may work as well ie. http://screencast.com/t/XyO7IbP5 In leu of tags, i have been added on these 'tags' to the front of tasks. If you think tags will work, we can close this idea (if another already exists)
- Ability to add names into 'assign to' section without email address -
Let's clarify what exactly needed. Original posting mentions assigning tasks to clients without them being able to login. Can you explain?

Hi,
I thought about doing it that way, but 10-15 projects in and 4 or 5 members per project team, we'd be looking at 40-60 gmail accounts.
We do encourage our clients to sign up for the Freedcamp account, however we don't always get our way!

Hi Robert,
What about registering dummy@gmail.com and inviting clients as dummy+client1@gmail.com (Bob), dummy+client2@gmail.com (Jan)?
