    Hi All!

Should a poll have an optional due date after which voting is not allowed?

Should we send people having access to a poll who haven’t voted yet reminders and if so – how many and how often?

    Thanks
    Igor

@AT - this topic as about adding Poll to Discussion application. If you want Poll to be a part of a Task - please post it separately.

For me personally it is something which belongs to Discussions.

Alternative is to allow to post Comment/Poll - in this case it will be possible to do a poll everywhere where comments are possible.

I agree we should at least prompt to assign all not completed subtasks below this task(subtask) to the same user.

Probably after we will add this - https://freedcamp.uservoice.com/forums/126945-suggestions-for-features/suggestions/2082397--notes-tab-for-projects adding importance and due dates for projects it will make sense to get back and see what we can do here to allow you to organize projects in different ways.

@Suzanne - what is your opinion and who should be able to change estimate on task? Tasks scope often changes as you go. One way to solve is to create a subtask but this will not apply to all possible use cases.

Also, what is your opinion on task estimation vs estimations for time on subtasks? We see our customers using subtasks pro (Lite plan and above) in a few ways:

    1. Task is a container - all actual work is happening inside subtasks. In this case task estimation will be a sum of estimations of all of its subtasks
    OR
    2. Task has own estimation but also subtasks have own estimations. In this case tasks estimation will be a sum of task estimation with all subtasks estimation. Question here is how to separate and show if task itself is within estimate and how a sum of all estimations is vs actual time.
    OR
    3. Some users want to set estimate on a task allowing subtasks assignees to use that estimate when splitting to subtasks. In this case manager is notified when subtasks estimates exceeded initial tasks estimation.

    Hi Hans,

I am hoping that this year we will:
    - add time estimates to task
    - allow to enter time worked on tasks manually or, if Time Tracking app is added to a project, use timer as an optional feature to start/pause and record time. This will allow to see who is working on what right now.
    - extend Time application to allow people to describe each chunk of work done
    - extend Time application to store every increment tracked so it will be possible to pull time report for a week or a month, for completed or all tasks etc.
    - extend Invoicing app to allow to to both a) get paid from you clients and/or b) pay your staff, contractors, freelancers. By 'pay' and 'get paid' I mean to have a clean list how much you are paying to whom and be able to mark paid hours and generate invoice to pass on to your customers. We are not planning to become Zenefits or Freshbooks just yet.
    - extend Invoicing app to be able to provide inly summaries or very detailed invoices for one or multiple projects

Next natural step will be adding Bugget app as described here - https://freedcamp.uservoice.com/forums/126945-suggestions-for-features/suggestions/2215371-finance-integration

Ability to put a budget to a project and a rate or specify each project participant rate and see time planned vs budget, time spent vs planed vs budget in Freedcamp.

For example, all of the above should work the same way for Issue Tracker application where also time should be allowed to be tracked on issues, ability to add issues to Milestones, ability to link an issue with one or multiple tasks etc Once done becomes very valuable system for many people as it allows to do projects, track issues, do support for those who are your clients but not part of Freedcamp and one system finally replaces multiple vendors, pricing, UI's as well as hassles of integration between them.

We do understand that power of Freedcamp is in very deep, smart and flexible integrations at least between apps we already have while adding new ones which greatly enhance system as budgeting or task dependencies/Gantt/timeline.

We gradually add value to our paid offerings, will most likely change pricing soon for NEW ONLY customers and we will never take anything from free plans ever.

We also keep talking to investors as we do understand what needs to be done and how - simply have to find a way to pour more gas on the Freedcamp's fire.

    Cheers,

    Hi Hans,

We are adding all bits one by one. It is not easy with very little funds and no investors backing.
Can you explain more on how you do burned budget? Is rate per hour is the same typically or must be set for each person invited?

Do you want to allow people assigned to task to change estimate for a task or just ability to track time by a task and see a sum multiplied by rate compared with project total budget is enough?

    Best Regards,
    Igor

I need an estimate, remaining and approved field for tasks/sub-tasks.
    ------------------------------------------------------

This is how I track progress - otherwise it's just a bunch of work to do.
Initially remaining is the same as estimate, but the assignee can update the remaining as they make progress. All approved tasks/sub task remaining field are summed for a simple burndown. Tasks that aren't approved are not summed so tasks can remain in the project as backlog items. Personally I would like estimates to be in man-days and partial man-days (e.g. 1, .5, .2, etc).

    Hi Pepe,

Thanks for posting. Do you know that you can create a saved filter which will show all tasks except those which were completed more than X days ago so old completed tasks are automatically filtered out?

Would this work as a workaround?

    Cheers,
    Igor

AdminFreedcamp (Feedback Squad, Freedcamp) commented  ·

@Pepe - I understand that it is not a replacement but a workaround which many users use to totally hide all completed tasks. Just add Status 'Completed', Date completed 'Last month' so you will never see tasks completed more than a month ago. BUT, if you want to see/search those - just turn off your current filter , see all tasks, search and check old task before applying filter and hiding them again.

If you need help with setting such filters - drop an email to us help@freedcamp.com

    Hi,

We are building this feature as part of Gantt but it will only be enabled on Enterprise plan.

Task B depends on task A. So B can not be started or at least gives you a warning saying – A was not completed.

    Cheers,
    Igor

We will also be adding Custom Fields feature soon so you can add extra fields to your tasks (again Business and Enterprise plans only).

I understand this is not exactly what is asked for here.

    Hi SC,

This does not make sense to me as it will never be accurate. Team can get notified and ‘see’ your task by an email, push notification on mobile device.

Best way to track will be to use upcoming features like:
    - making sure task is In Progress if it passed start date
    - progress % is in line with working days for a task duration
    - estimate time is not conflicting with time worked vs working days and/or task duration
    - task is not overdue

    Cheers,
    Igor

@Roshan - please clarify your comment. You can make a discussion private and add any user to it (having access to Discussion app in this project).

Yep - I checked your screenshot. Even though Tasks is the most used project application we have a bunch of projects not having Tasks added. It can be project-discussion or project-issue tracking.

So if you want project activity in a project and not just tasks activity - best way to incorporate it is to add it to an individual tab or some button which will show you a big overlay popup with scroll to access project activity.

Inside Tasks it makes sense to show tasks only activities in this project.

We will roll new Freedcamp navigation soon and I will see how we can bring what Notifications page shows filtered to show you project updates or application updates (like Tasks updates) when you are inside a project without leaving a page you are on.

    Cheers,
    Igor

I would probably prefer to tackle it into this - https://freedcamp.uservoice.com/forums/126945-suggestions-for-features/suggestions/2082397--notes-tab-for-projects

Basically this is an idea of anew project tab which can a few things - what already described by a link above and recent updates.

    What do you think?

    Hi Ian,

    Thanks for posting.

Probably it should work this way. If you use FileEditor a file will be marked as locked by you. Other people using FileEditor will get a notice that file is edited by you and it is up to them to cancel or continue editing. Notice will state that their changes to a file can be overwritten by your edits later on.

If you do not use file edit and download a file – it will be a drop down button with two options:
    - download
    - download and lock
In this case other person uploading a new version or also trying to download will get a similar notice.

Users uploading back directly or via FileEdit if a file was changed after they locked it will get a notice saying ‘File was changed – please consider uploading it as a new version as otherwise you will…

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting. Great idea – just need to redesign filters so we add this option without doubling amount of options in each filter category.

@Ellie - not completed in Tasks - select 'In Progress' and 'No progress' and save this filter as 'Not completed' tasks. Please see more http://blog.freedcamp.com/?s=saved+searches&submit=Search

If you refer to widgets - please let me know in your reply.

"We have a long list of Freedcamp users so if I wanted to see issues "not assigned to Chris" I'd need to select around 20 users _except_ Chris. Whereas if there was a "not" operator I could simply tick that and then choose Chris."
    ---------

Better use case will be a need to select all 'assigned' task hiding all 'unassigned'. Now you will have to select each person to do it and if a new person is invited - needs to be added to a filter not to be missed.

BTW we think of adding a few saved filters to Tasks and global Tasks board similar to ones we have in Issue Tracker application.

    Hi Tara,

Thanks for providing alternatives for those looking for it. I asked my questions back in 2013 and no one responded.

I also assumed that solution was expected to be provide by us for a cost way below 100$/month price point which, to me, is not possible. I however agree that it has to be directly linked to amount of staff you want to use it for.

    Thanks Jarrod.

For now we do it this way - we grab a link to a file from Files like https://freedcamp.com/Freedcamp_LxR/Freedcamp_Devel_yOf/files/versions/1386121 and post it to a comment as a link but it is a workaround and time consuming one. I agree - it needs to be fixed.
