"Stoplight" status associated with tasks that could be assigned manually and then displayed on a dashboard
It would be nice to have a "stoplight" status associated with tasks that could be assigned manually and then displayed on a separate dashboard. This way we could have our internal notes and tasks, but have an overall "red/yellow/green" status we can display to our clients.

The second approach you describe sounds perfect!
I don't like sharing failure with clients either, but as a Project Manager there are situations beyond my control that can lead to a task not being on-time. Open and honest communication also allows me to point out when my client is behind on their tasks or made a promise of "you'll have that data on monday" and I can put the task in "red" on Tuesday after they didn't deliver. Honesty is a two-way street, but seems to help foster trust between myself and my clients.I look forward to the data pull option.

Igor,
Your assumption is correct. In addition it would be nice to have a Stop-Light like status assigned to each Task.
Red = Bad State
Yellow = Worsening State
Green = Good StateThen on the externally facing dashboard it could just list the tasks (by title) and their assigned stop-light status, but NOT display any of the subtasks or assignments/due dates etc. Just the Title.
We don't need most of our clients seeing all the gritty details, they just need a simple status (the stop-light value).
